In the course of acute bronchitis, the dominant symptom is a cough that changes its character from a dry one, at the beginning of the disease, to a damp one at a later stage. The use of antibiotics is not recommended in these patients. The beneficial effect in controlling inflammatory changes is demonstrated by the nonperceptive preparations – OTC (over-the-counter). The conducted analyzes showed that Bronchipret consisting of extracts of ivy, primate and thyme has the expected antitussive activity by inhibiting the inflammatory process and influencing the nature of bronchial secretion and strengthening the cleansing mechanism. The usefulness of the drug has been confirmed in clinical trials.
