It can be diagnosed by the main symptoms, one of which is icterus and by serological testing detecting the RNA virus in blood serum or by stool tests. In 2017, in Poland as well as in entire Europe there has been a substantial increase in the number of cases, connected mainly with males who have sex with males (MSM.) Polish State Sanitary Inspection is taking actions in order to limit spreading of the disease. The main precaution is Hepatitis A vaccination.
