Association of sarcoidosis and tuberculosis in terms of clinical, radiological and histopathological still is unsolved clinical problem.
The aim of study
was carried out in patients with pulmonary sarcoidosis screening tests for latent TB infection.
Material and methods
. The study included 40 patients who were diagnosed with sarcoidosis (16 women, 24 men) aged 29-71 years (mean age 45 years). The criterion for inclusion in the study group had clinical and histopathological examination, confirming the diagnosis of sarcoidosis before treatment. The control group included 30 healthy subjects (18 women and 12 men) aged 24-65 years (mean age 47.2 years). The study tuberculosis infection kit used QuantiFERON-TB Gold In-Tube (IGRA). Tuberculin test was performed with subcutaneous injection of tuberculin and read after 72 hours of reaction result.
Results
. Tuberculin skin test results, and independent of peripheral anergy IGRA test were negative. This does not preclude definitely participate in the etiology of sarcoidosis bacillus.
Conclusions
. IGRA test in a population of patients with sarcoidosis is characterized by a higher sensitivity and specificity than the tuberculin skin.
